Local community members who want to get involved with the District Diversity Council will now have the chance. On September 28, the CISD school board of trustees opened the application process for the community to get involved in the DDC.
Since January 2019, the DDC has worked to promote racial and gender equality on CISD campuses. More recently, the DDC has proposed the Cultural Competence Action Plan, a five-year draft plan that proposes solutions to ongoing issues of racism and prejudice inside the district.
In addition to collecting feedback from the community, the DDC is looking to add new voices onto the council to work on the plan. Individuals interested in volunteering should fill out the application, explain why they’re interested and what special qualifications and considerations distinguish themselves.
Applications are due to the superintendent’s office by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, October 19 at 2400 N. Carroll Ave. If you would like to apply, visit MySouthlakeNews.com. If you would like to submit feedback on CCAP, email CCAP-Feedback@southlakecarroll.edu.
