Campuses may be closed, but Carroll ISD still plans to host its graduation ceremony for 2020 seniors. It just may look a little different from previous ceremonies.
Carroll ISD announced three graduation plans on Sunday, April 26, that would be put into place depending on evolving social distancing guidelines. If restrictions have been lifted for large group gatherings by May 29, then graduation will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 29, at Dragon Stadium.
If restrictions are lifted by July 31, graduation will be held in the evening on Friday, July 31, at Dragon Stadium or another pre-determined indoor location. If physical distancing restrictions are still in place at that time, the district would hold a modified event without an in-person audience on July 31.
Even in the event of its earliest potential ceremony, the district says it will still implement some safety measures out of caution, such as seat spacing, hand sanitizer stations and face masks. The district will also host a drive-thru event for graduating seniors on Wednesday, May 13, where seniors can drop off their laptops and pick up their graduation caps, gowns and invitations. Personal graduation messages will also be available for $50 starting on May 1.
The city also announced that it would erect a display in Southlake Town Square to commemorate graduating seniors. If your child does not attend Carroll ISD, fill out the Project Graduation 2020 form at CityOfSouthlake.com by May 1 to have their name included on the display.
