The Emerald Belles' journey on "America's Got Talent" ended last night after their final performance on Tuesday. The Belles' names were called early on into Wednesday's episode, but not to be eliminated from the show.
They had one last chance during the "Dunkin Save," which is a 30-minute live voting round where viewers could save one contestant on the verge of elimination. The Emerald Belles found themselves in the "Dunkin Save" alongside child singers Ansley Burns and Sophie Pecora.
After the time lapsed and three other acts were eliminated, the Belles stood side-by-side with Ansley and Sophie eagerly awaiting the final results. Ansley was the one who was voted through at the end of the show.
The Belles’ "AGT" journey first started after a casting producer reached out to director Melissa Page for them to join the show after stumbling onto one of the Belles’ 2017 high-kick routines on YouTube. After much back-and-forth on transporting 78 team members and their 16 chaperones to Los Angeles, the Belles made it to the audition stage to give their first performance in June.
All of the judges loved it. Well, all of them except Howie Mandel, who gave the Belles their first “no” vote. But after receiving the other three “yes” votes from the rest of the judges, the Belles jumped, screamed and cried from excitement, according to a previous Southlake Style story.
“You always see people crying on TV after they make it through and think that they are overreacting,” Emerald Belles captain Molly McKinnon says to Southlake Style. “But when you’re really there, and you think about all of the work it took to get there, there’s a lot of emotion.”
The Belles had their second performance in July, which was met with similar feedback. Howie once again said their routine wasn’t enough to win “America’s Got Talent,” and he felt it wasn’t even enough to move on to the next round.
Guest judge and country singer Brad Paisley, however, strongly disagreed with Howie.
“They’re amazing and perfect, and Howie can suck it,” Paisley told the girls during the episode.
The Belles performed for the third and final time this past Tuesday, where their high-kick routine was accompanied by bright lights and pyro effects. Even Howie was blown away and extended a public apology to the girls.
“I’ve been a fan from the beginning, but the way that you stepped it up tonight was beyond anything you guys have done,” judge Julianne Hough said on the episode. “When you guys come together, you’re better together, and I love that.”
After they were eliminated, the Belles’ tweeted a thank you video to the show for giving them a chance to perform in front of millions of viewers and fans on television.
“Thank you to ["America's Got Talent"] for the greatest journey of our lives!” the Belles' tweeted. “We are forever grateful for this once in a lifetime experience! Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this process and always.”
The good news is you don’t have to tune in to “America’s Got Talent” to watch these talented girls perform. You’ll have the chance to watch their routine at every Carroll Dragons football game, with the first one being at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 30 at the Dragon Stadium.
