Carroll Senior High School’s 2021 graduation ceremony is on. With the class of 2021 set to graduate from the district on Friday, May 28, many families may be wondering how this year’s ceremony will be different from last year. Here are five things to know before you head into Dragon Stadium this Friday.
1. Tickets are not required.
While last year’s graduation gave each graduating senior five tickets to distribute amongst their family, this year’s ceremony will not require tickets for admittance. Both the home and visitor’s sides will be used for seating, and families can sit as closely with each other as they are comfortable.
2. Masks are optional.
In accordance with the district’s previous action where it made masks optional for outdoor events, neither graduating seniors nor their families will be required to wear masks for the ceremony. Masks are highly recommended, however, if you are sitting close to other attendees that are not part of your group.
3. Social distancing is ongoing.
While masks are optional for attendants, social distancing protocols will be observed throughout the ceremony for the safety of the students and staff. Graduates will remain 6 feet apart whether they are on the field or stage, and social distancing is recommended for attendants in the stands as well if you are unmasked.
4. Concessions will not be offered.
While normal Dragon events offer a variety of tasty concessions for game days like popcorn and Feedstore BBQ’s famous beef brisket, the district will not offer any concessions for the 2021 graduation ceremony. The Scholars and Athletes Serving Others organization will sell bottled water on site that benefits Project Graduation.
5. The ceremony will be livestreamed.
For those that are still leery about attending crowded events without a mask, the district will livestream the event for family members that want to tune in to the ceremony remotely. Families can tune into graduation on Carroll ISD’s YouTube and Facebook pages at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and watch proudly as their Dragon walks the stage.
