It's going to be anbrespecially exciting summer for eight members of the Carroll Dragon MarchingbrBand. Eight musicians will represent the Dragon Band and compete with variousbrDrum Corps International (DCI) marching bands across the country. In previousbryears, one or two musicians represented the marching band, which is under thebrdirection of Ken Johnson with assistant director David Walker.
Each year, DCI showcasesbrthe best of the best. More than 8,000 students audition for the fewer thanbr3,500 positions available in top-tier DCI member corps. In order to competebrthis summer, the students will spend the summer touring with theirbrcorps. Often, this means they will sleep on gym floors or buses.

Austin was a state soloist for the French horn inbr2015 and 2016. Six of the eight are current members of the indoor percussionbrshow FROM DUST, which is under the direction of David Walker. John Miller, Jr.brwas one of the first students to participate in Carroll Indoor Percussion. Additionally, brmost of these students have leadership positions within the marching band or indoorbrpercussion.
