The Clariden School Is Moving Full STEAM Ahead

Construction on The Clariden School's new Upper School STEAM building is reaching its final months. The new 8,000 square-foot building will be the sixth building addition on Clariden's 23-acre Southlake campus, located directly across from Bob Jones Park. The building will host Clariden's upper-grade students 9-12 and feature a science lab, Makerspace, Think Tank, four 500-square-foot classrooms and a kitchenette and student lounge area.
"We are very excited as we approach the opening of our new STEAM building," Clariden's project manager Alan Garrison says. "This state-of-the-art building will transform education at Clariden through the addition of a Makerspace complete with multiple 3D printers, laser cutter and a wide variety of handheld tools. The building will also be equipped with a large science lab featuring extensive gas, water and exhaust utilities to support the latest experiments. Extensive student collaboration areas, including a "Think Tank" with moveable seating and a full wall glass board, are being provided to support Clariden's mission in Project-Based Learning.
Additionally, the entire STEAM building is an ICC-500 rated storm shelter enclosure, sized to house the entire Clariden population in the event of severe weather, greatly adding to student safety.
"I am incredibly excited for the new STEAM building," head of school Dr. Jamie Segraves says. "It will offer our students state-of-the-art facilities and the space to continue to collaborate in the meaningful, intentional Clariden way. The addition of the STEAM building will also allow us to continue to grow as a community while maintaining our small, close-knit identity throughout the process."
The new Upper School STEAM building is anticipated to be completed and operational by the beginning of the fall semester.
