A third Southlake Carroll athlete has tested positive for COVID-19, the district says in an email. The male student has not been at workouts since last Thursday, June 18, and CISD says family members believe he may have contracted the virus from a family friend.
The first Southlake Carroll athlete tested positive for COVID-19 in early June and the second athlete tested positive in late June.
The athlete who tested positive experienced a slight headache and no fever before being tested. The district says he is a “multi-sport athlete who attended several workouts for CISD and was also present at other facilities and events in the community.”
Coaches, athletes and their families who were in contact with this student have been notified and are required to quarantine for a 14-day period, according to the email sent by the district.
CISD is currently conferring with county and state health experts as the COVID-19 cases rise and the district encourages student athletes and their families to comply with social distancing, minimize contact with others and follow CDC guidelines.
