There’s nothing better than watching Southlake Carroll players take to the field as a new season of football begins. While there are plenty of young rising Dragons on the roster this year, several seniors are poised to make a mark on their final season wearing green. Whether you livestream the games each week or dutifully attend them in person, here are the seniors to keep an eye on.
Kaden Anderson
No one has stepped up more than quarterback Kaden Anderson. The now-senior got his Dragon start last year after former quarterback Quinn Ewers headed to college early. With little more than a handful of snaps under his belt, Kaden quickly took to the position, leading the team to a 45-21 win over Highland Park in their first game of the regular season which was televised live from AT&T Stadium. By the end of the Dragon’s season, he helped the team go 14-1, throwing for 3,036 yards and 34 touchdowns.
Owen Allen
Arguably the most talented Dragon stepping onto the field this season, senior running back Owen Allen is ready to continue to add yards to his record. A rare four-year starter, Owen has rushed for 5,474 yards as a Dragon so far, with 2,145 of those yards happening last season — his best season so far. If he can rush for 2,800 yards this year, the senior will crack the Texas’ top 10 all-time rushers. Beyond his running game, the senior can also rack up big points. Last season, he made 33 total touchdowns, cementing him as Carroll’s top scorer.
Logan Anderson
On the defensive side, Logan Anderson started making a name for himself during his sophomore year. Since then, the senior’s star continues to rise. Last season, the defensive back was part of a defense that allowed only 218 points all season for an average of 14.5 points per game. For his part, Logan recorded the third-most total tackles on the team with 79 — 56 of which were solo, the second-most on the team. He also tied for most interceptions with three and recovered a fumble.
Cade Parks
Another integral part of the Dragons’ defense is defensive lineman Cade Parks. Last season, the then-junior helped contribute to several momentum-changing moments, with a team-high of three recovered fumbles and 3.5 sacks. Alongside causing one fumble last year, Cade also was among the four defensive players to score a touchdown. And we can’t forget Dragon fans voting him the No. 2 rising star in our Midseason MVP Poll.
Tyler White
Never underestimate the importance of the kicker. Last season, senior kicker Tyler White was the Dragons’ No. 2 top scorer, with a total of 119 points — 10 field goals and 71 PATs. This season, Tyler looks to be just as solid and ready as ever to rack up the points for the Dragons, especially after receiving offers from the University of Texas and the University of Miami before ultimately committing to Texas A&M University.
