The Super Bowl is Sunday but before the big game there is some serious Dragon Football news to share. The 2019 season schedule is ready for its close up.
Like they did in 2018, Riley Dodge’s Dragons will start the season on August 30— this time hosting South Grand Prairie at Dragon Stadium.
Those familiar with the 2018 schedule will quickly see the 2019 opponents remain in the same order with just a simple swap of location.
The second and third games of the season will continue the excitement, as the team gets ready for 5-6A competition.
On September 6, Dragon fans will get to finally weigh in on the $18 million renovation of Mustang Panther Stadium when the Dragons travel across the street to face Colleyville Heritage. Then it’s on to some old-fashioned Friday Night Lights on September 13, when Dodge and company travel to Ratliff Stadium to face another set of panthers in Odessa Permian.
After going 13-1 in his first season as head coach, Dodge will need to retool a roster that lost the district’s MVP, Offensive and Defensive players of the year in TJ McDaniel, Will Bowers and Michael Parrish respectively.
Despite the loss of so many notable seniors, there are high expectations for a team that returns seasoned talent on both sides of the ball.
