Carroll Cross Country started their season off on the right foot with strong showings at their weekend meets. On August 23, varsity athletes traveled to The Woodlands to compete during the Friday Night Lights meet.
Despite the rain and muddy course, the Girls Elite Varsity A team placed first and was led by Jenna Holland with Katherine McElaney, Kaylie Cox, Abigail Mclivain, Tatum Foreman, Lydia Lo and Alexis Karmis following, making up the top seven for the team in the two-mile race. Girls Varsity B placed second during the meet and was let by Natalie Ng and followed by Kristen Mader, Erin Fritz, Kaitlyn Midkiff and Mia Tesoriero.
The Boys Elite Varsity A placed second during the meet’s 4,000-meter race. The team was led by Nate Lannel and followed by Matthew Sims, Tim McElaney, Chase Fisher, Lucas LeVant, Antonio Florcruz and Steven Torres. Boys Elite Varisty B finished second as well with Chris Tracht leading and Kieran Beirne, Matt Hetrick, Brian McCarthy and Logan Schaunaman following.
If that wasn’t enough for Carroll Cross Country, Southlake also had several teams competing in Dallas as part of the Green Hill Relay on August 24. Three Dragons teams, Varsity Boys, JV Boys-B and JV Girls-B, walked away with medals for their efforts during the six-mile relay, with JV Girls-B taking home the gold in their division. Congratulations to all of these athletes!
