After the cancellation of the highly anticipated Dodge vs. Dodge game at AT&T Stadium because of the pandemic, Dragon fans have been eagerly waiting for any news about the 2020 football season. Now they have it.
Carroll ISD released the revised 2020 football schedule on Wednesday on Twitter, with the season officially scheduled to start on Sept. 24 with a scrimmage against DeSoto High School.
The regular season will kick off on October 2, with a game against Rockwall Heath at Dragon Stadium while the first away game will be on October 8 against Rockwall High School. Against the latter team, the Dragons came out on top in 2016 and 2017, winning 30-23 and 52-38, respectively.
The Dragons will continue to play through October, facing Denton Guyer High School on October 16 at home and Byron Nelson on October 22 in an away game. Both teams are ones the Dragons have faced before — last season Southlake Carroll defeated both teams, beating Denton Guyer by 46-34 and Byron Nelson by 49-0.
District play will continue as the Dragons face off against the Keller Indians on Oct. 30 at home and Keller Central in an away game on Nov. 6. Last season, the Dragons prevailed over both teams, winning 56-14 and 35-7, respectively.
The last two games of the regular season will feature matchups against Keller Timber Creek on Nov. 25 and Keller Fossil Ridge on Dec. 4 — the Dragons beat both teams last season, winning 49-8 and 62-7, respectively.
As of right now, promotional nights have not been set and all varsity football tickets will be general admission this season, according to the district. A plan will be released soon to season ticket holders that will communicate the benefits they will receive during the 2020 season.
