The final tallies are now official for the UniversitybrInterscholastic League (UIL) Lone Star Cup, and for the third year in a row thebrSouthlake Carroll Dragons took home the honor as the state's most accomplishedbrschool across band, theater, academic and athletic pursuits.
The Dragons celebrated state championships in boys and girlsbrcross country, boys swimming and diving and wrestling for the 2013–2014 schoolbryear. Strong playoff performances from the girls volleyball and boys golf, inbraddition to several team district championships, also added to the UILbrdistinction.
With a final score of 115 points,brSouthlake once again soared past perennial powerhouse Conroe The Woodlands,brwhich finished second place behind Carroll for the third straight year with abrtotal score of 78. With this latest Lone Star Cup, Southlake Carroll has takenbrhome its fifth UIL cup since the 1997–1998 school year and third 5A Lone StarbrCup title in as many years.
The University of Texas at Austin,brin an effort to provide leadership and guidance to public school debate andbrathletic teachers, created the UIL in 1910. Since its inception, it has grownbrinto the largest interschool organization of its kind in the world.
