Dragon quarterback Mason Holmes and First Financial Bank Player of the Week Cade Bell were in a groove Friday night in Carroll's 30-23 win over Rockwall.
The two connected seven times for 133 yards, making up for 45 percent of the Dragons' passing offense. Holmes finished the game 19 of 28 for 296 yards, throwing a touchdown and an interception. He added 88 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

The game went back and forth, with the Yellowjackets taking the lead before the half. Holmes' sole touchdown pass was a strike to Robert Barnes, who yet again played on both sides of the ball. The touchdown was the game-tying score, just before the conclusion of the first half. The score was 23-23 before Audricke Gaines put Carroll in the drivers seat to the win. He carried the ball 19 times for 55 yards on the night, and had two touchdowns.
Barnes' catch was one of three of the night. He finished with 48 yards in the air. He also rushed for 23 yards on one carry. On defense, he registered eight tackles and a pass deflection. Barrett Buck led the team in tackles with 12. He deflected two passes. Zion Sales led the team in knockdowns with five. He added four tackles.
The Dragons have a bye next week, but continue their road trip on Sept. 23 against Flower Mound. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
