Junior defensive lineman Cade Parks recovers a fumble for a touchdown during Southlake Carroll's 31-0 win against the Prosper Eagles on Friday night.
During Friday night’s game, the Southlake Carroll defense showed up and shut down Prosper 31-0, advancing the Dragons to a 3-0 record.
The star of the game, Southlake Carroll’s defense kept Prosper from scoring the entire game and made three interceptions.
Senior linebacker Nate Gall, our Dragon Pride Player Of The Week, presented by AC Pros, caused a fumble which junior defensive lineman Cade Parks recovered for a touchdown, while also recording five tackles and making one of the three interceptions on the night.
Other defensive players who had great nights include junior defensive back Logan Anderson, who recorded the most tackles on the night with six, and senior defensive back Josh Spaeth who made an interception on top of recording five tackles.
With the defense firing on all cylinders, the talents of Owen Allen were more than enough to seal a victory. The junior running back rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns while quarterback Kaden Anderson helped keep the defense honest. The junior signal-caller completed five of ten passes for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Senior wide receiver RJ Maryland caught his first touchdown of the season— which was just one of his three catches for 42 yards that night.
Following this outstanding defensive performance, Southlake Carroll now gets ready to take on Arlington Martin at 7 p.m. on Sept. 17 in their first home game and last non-district game of the regular season. Last year, the Dragons defeated the team 30-26, advancing to the fourth round of the playoffs.
