Senior linebacker Nate Gall catches an interception during Friday night's game against Arlington Martin.
After narrowly defeating Arlington Martin in the playoffs last season, Southlake Carroll powered its way to a 31-7 victory over the Warriors in their last non-district game of the regular season.
Though the passing game struggled, junior quarterback Kaden Anderson still found ways to make big plays. Completing 11 of his 23 passes, Kaden threw for 196 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Senior wide receiver RJ Maryland — our Dragon Pride Player Of The Week, presented by AC Pros — was Kaden’s main target of the night, catching six passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns.
But it was on the ground and on defense where the Dragons really came alive. Junior running back Owen Allen continued to show off, rushing for 161 yards and two touchdowns. All in all, the Dragons produced 456 yards of total offense, culminating in their 31 points.
And for the second straight week, the Dragon defense did what they do best, keeping Arlington Martin to just seven points on the night.
Senior defensive back Max Reyes both caused and recovered a fumble on top of his eight tackles, while senior defensive lineman Travis Keener recorded a sack and senior linebacker Nate Gall caught an interception for the second game in a row.
The Dragons remain undefeated through four games of a tough non-district schedule. The city of Southlake eagerly awaits its home-opener as district play begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24 when the Dragons will host Byron Nelson at Dragon Stadium during its homecoming game.
