The Carroll Dragons finished the regular season strong, securing their second straight undefeated 10-0 district championship season under head coach Riley Dodge. Their 10th win was achieved on the road in a 49-8 win against Keller Timber Creek.
The Dragon defense shined scoring two touchdowns and holding Timber Creek to only one yard rushing on the night. DFW Elite Realty Player of the Game, sponsored by Thomas and Sharon Michael, Dylan Thomas had not one but two pick-sixes on the night.
In total, three interceptions were made by the Dragon defense, one by Brandon Howell, who also led the team with six tackles. While the defense contained Timber Creek, the offense also had another strong outing.
Though quarterback Quinn Ewers was only 6-12 for 89 yards, he threw two touchdowns. The Dragons’ rushing game was particularly strong, with Owen Allen rushing 25 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
As a whole, the Dragons offense controlled the clock rushing 44 times for 231 yards and three touchdowns.
Looking ahead, the Dragons now set their sights on the first playoff game that will be held in Southlake on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at Dragon Stadium. Their opponent will be the Lewisville Farmers, who are 7-3 and coming off a close 48-42 loss to Flower Mound Marcus at home.
Statewide, Lewisville is ranked 113 and in their division, they are ranked 57, according to MaxPreps.com. Last year, their record was 9-3 and they have 2 state titles and 30 playoff appearances, according to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.
