As record temperatures continue, high schools across the state of Texas are facing an increasingly new problem — weather-related event cancelations. Our city’s much-anticipated community pep rally slated for last Saturday was canceled in anticipation of 110-degree temperatures.
Now with school in full swing, excessive heat is causing area football games and other outdoor events to be canceled or postponed. With high temperatures of 108 degrees expected later this week, schools across North Texas are pushing back the start times of their football season openers.
Southlake Carroll administrators, along with several other schools, have opted to push the start time of the Dragon Football season opener against El Paso Eastwood from 7 to 8 p.m. to better account for the safety of the teams, students and families in attendance. You can purchase tickets to the game ahead of time by visiting SouthlakeCarroll.edu.
