The Dragons just keep on winning. On Thursday, Southlake Carroll defended its undefeated record, beating the Eaton Eagles 47-24.
Owen Allen, our Dragon Pride Player Of The Week, presented by AC Pros, made a triumphant return after being injured in the game against Keller. The junior running back rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns on the night, bringing his season total to 1,050 rushing yards. Currently sitting at 4,379 career rushing yards, Allen just needs to rush a little over 400 yards to break Tre Newton’s record of 4,795 career rushing yards.
Quarterback Kaden Anderson also had a good night, throwing for 184 yards and two touchdowns. The junior, who also rushed for a touchdown, utilized senior RJ Maryland and sophomore Jacob Jordan the most. Together, the wide receivers caught 12 passes for 171 and two touchdowns.
The Dragon defense also had some standout moments. Senior defensive back Luke Ledbetter led the team with nine tackles on the night, while senior captain Benecio Porras followed with eight tackles.
Senior defensive back Max Reyes caught an interception and three players — Benecio, Avyonne Jones and Zach Philips — each knocked down a pass.
With Eaton in the rearview mirror, the Dragons now have just two more games remaining in the regular season. Next Friday at 7 p.m., Southlake Carroll will take on Timber Creek at Dragon Stadium during Senior Night and the last home game of the season.
