After rushing for 161 yards last week against Arlington Martin, junior running back Owen Allen is sitting at 4,005 career rushing yards and is on pace to break the Southlake Carroll record.
So far this season, the junior has rushed for 676 yards through the first four games, giving him an average of 169 rushing yards each game.
He just needs a little under 800 more yards to break the record this season. The current record is held by Tre’ Newton, who rushed for 4,795 yards between 2005-07. At his pace, Allen should break the record during Week 10’s game against Keller Timber Creek.
During his breakout freshman season, Allen rushed for 1,266 yards and nearly doubled that figure during his sophomore season, where he rushed for 2,063 yards.
With those numbers, the junior started the season with 3,329 career rushing yards, a number he increases week after week.
Allen will next take to the field on Friday, Sept. 24 during Southlake Carroll’s homecoming game against Byron Nelson.
