Even though the season is over, it doesn’t put an end to the accolades. Junior quarterback Quinn Ewers is among the finalists for The Landry Award, an award given to the top high school football player in North Texas.
The winner of The Landry Award is chosen by, “a voting panel of former coaches and players, members of the media and local leaders. Online public voting also accounts for one vote in the panel balloting,” according to its website.
Joining Ewers as finalists is Denton Guyer’s quarterback Eli Stowers, Lucas Lovejoy’s quarterback Ralph Rucker, Aledo’s wide receiver JoJo Earle and Cedar Hill’s quarterback Kaidon Salter.
In 2018, running back T.J. McDaniel received The Landry Award and last year head coach Riley Dodge received The Landry Award Coach of the Year.
Fans can vote for Ewers online, and the winner of the public voting will receive a vote in the panel balloting, according to its website. The presentation of The Landry Award will take place on January 30 at 11 p.m.
