In its first playoff game of the season, Southlake Carroll defeated North Crowley 42-20 and advanced to the area round of playoffs.
Junior running back Owen Allen — our Dragon Pride Player Of The Week, presented by AC Pros — continued his offensive dominance, rushing for 129 yards, three touchdowns and breaking the Southlake Carroll record for most career rushing yards with 4,924.
Complementing the ground game, junior quarterback Kaden Anderson threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns. The receivers he targeted the most were senior wide receiver RJ Maryland, who caught five passes for 89 yards and a touchdown, and sophomore wide receiver Jacob Jordan, who caught five passes for 67 yards and a touchdown.
The Dragon defense also had some standout moments. Senior defensive lineman Calder Bray recorded two sacks, junior defensive back Logan Anderson caused a fumble recovered by senior defensive back Avyonne Jones and three Dragons — senior Lou Petkus, sophomore Dustin Mark and senior Luke Ledbetter — each knocked down a pass.
With this win, Southlake Carroll continues to be the No. 11 high school football team in the nation, according to MaxPreps.com. The Dragons are also the No. 2 team in the state and Division 6A, while they sit at No. 1 in Region 1 and Dallas.
