On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the Southlake Carroll Dragons shut out Lewisville in a commanding 52-0 win, advancing to the fourth round of the playoffs.
The Dragon defense kept Lewisville to under 100 passing and rushing yards in a standout showing. Senior linebacker Benecio Porras, our Dragon Pride Player Of The Week, presented by AC Pros, recorded a season-high 12 tackles while also knocking down a pass.
Logan Anderson also shined on defense, recovering a fumble and recording nine tackles — the second-most of the game following Benecio.
The Dragon offense was just as aggressive, with junior quarterback Kaden Anderson throwing for 130 yards and four touchdowns. Senior wide receivers Landon Samson and RJ Maryland caught those passes for a combined 135 yards and four touchdowns.
Junior running back Owen Allen also had another 100-plus yard game, rushing for 128 yards and one touchdown. Fellow running backs James Lehman and Maddux Reid also rushed for a combined 98 yards and two touchdowns.
With this game in the rearview mirror, Southlake Carroll now heads to Apogee Stadium to play against Allen at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online.
