In front of a sold out crowd, the Dragon Baseball team fought hard and walked it off to win the first game in a three-game series against Marcus in the regional semifinals.
Successful at the plate, both Max Reyes and Gunnar Krug went 3 for 3 — one of those three hits was a home run for Reyes and a double for Krug. And playing to their talents, the team stole four bases.
On the mound, junior pitcher and LSU commit Griffin Herring struck out nine Marcus batters over 6.1 innings and Luke Gornell followed up to help secure the win.
Along with his double, Krug was also responsible for hitting a single that brought home two runs — allowing the Dragons to win in a walk-off fashion.
Now the Dragons set their sights on the second game of the series, which is scheduled for 4 p.m. today at Marcus High School. Should Southlake Carroll win this game, they will be headed to the Regional Finals and one step closer to the state championship.
