The Carroll boys soccer team has officially named its captains for the 2021-2022 season.
Seniors Adam Paquette, Jack Meyer, Hayes Buete, Scott Mundy and junior Parker Owens were named this year's team captains. After last season ended, Meyer and Mundy were named to the District 4-6A 1st Team All-District, while Paquette was named a District 4-6A Honorable Mention All-District.
“Our new captains were selected because they positively lead and drive our program forward through their words and actions. They are all excellent young men that embody our core values of selflessness, tradition, attitude and responsibility,” head coach Chris Padilla says. “They also bring a high level of skill and experience to our team.”
Coach Padilla, who previously served as an assistant coach, was named as head coach on Oct. 15 following the resignation of former head coach Aaron Cottrell.
“I’m extremely grateful and honored to be the head coach of this program,” coach Padilla says. “I’m thankful for all of the past players and coaches that have set the standard, tradition and expectation for our program to be one of the top teams in the state, as well as the country.”
Last year, the team was the district runner-up and made it to the area round of playoffs.
“In preparing for our season we have focused on, above all else, competing. Whether it’s been in a scrimmage, fitness exercises or small-sided games, we know that competition breeds success,” coach Padilla says. “We’ve also put a big focus on relationships within the team. We know that building a strong bond will help us to be successful throughout the season against any adversity.”
The boys soccer team’s next game is a scrimmage against Rockwall at 7 p.m. on Dec. 10 at Dragon Stadium.
