As the top SouthlakebrCarroll Dragon runners prepare for next week, the remaining team split up withbra portion of the runners traveling to Corpus Christi for the annual TexasbrA&M-Islander Splash Invitational, where the girls took second place and thebrboys came away with a third-place finish in the 6A Varsity division. The restbrof the boys and girls teams competed at the Coppell Invitational at MeadowmerebrPark in Grapevine.

Leading the Lady Dragonsbrto their second-place finish in Corpus was Grace Williamson placing ninthbroverall (21:29). Next was Abigail McIlvain (21:41) in 14th,brKatherine McElaney (21:48) in 19th place, Laurel Hook (22:21) in 23rd,brand in 28th was Caitlyn Midkiff (22:36).
The boys came away with abrsecond-place finish and were led by Duncan Brown (17:55) placing seventhbroverall. Next was Grant Anderson (18:12)brin 17th, Bradley Heidebrecht (18:19) in 22nd, Ryan Odnealbr(18:52) in 50th and Oliver Arandia (18:53) in 53rd tobrround out the top five.
Colleyville Heritage Invitational
Carroll Cross Country hadbrteams compete in the JV division of the meet in Grapevine with the girls teambrfinishing fifth and the boys placing sixth. First to cross the line for thebrgirls was Jenna Laverock (23:44) in 21st, next was Kathryn Reilley (24:27) inbr29th, Reese Duggan (24:28) in 30th, Ava Chadd (24:37) inbr34th and Morgan Potter (24:51) in 42nd. Leading the boysbrwas Brett Walker (19:17) in 41st, Brian McCarthy (19:23) in 43rd,brMichael Chambless (19:33) in 50th, Thomas Drefs (19:33) in 51stbrand in 52nd was Bennett Woolsey (19:36).
“We are proud of the way our program and teams competed thisbrweekend at the Islander Splash and Coppell Invite,” said head coach JustinbrLeonard in a press release. “The teams were able to gain some valuablebrexperience that will hopefully pay dividends next weekend and ultimately at thebrdistrict meet. We have one meet remaining until district, so it's time to focusbron the little things and get ready to run fast when it matters the most.”
The Dragons are back onbrthe course next Saturday with the Varsity teams traveling to the highlybrcompetitive Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and the JV Dragonbrrunners competing in Keller at the Timbercreek Invitational.
