Dragon Hall of Honor
This past weekend, 11 new inductees were announced for the Carroll ISD Athletics Hall of Honor class of 2024. The class, which will be formally inducted in 2025, consists of two teams, seven athletes, one coach and one fan. Since its founding in 2011, the Carroll ISD Athletic Hall of Honor has inducted 87 Dragons who have left their marks at one of the most successful high school athletics programs in the country. Once formally inducted, this newest class will bring the hall to a total of 98 honorees.
The 2024 Hall of Honor Inductees are:
- Brian Hodges – Football, Basketball, Track, 1979: A standout offensive lineman and All-State selection who also excelled in basketball and was a regional qualifier in track.
- Trevor Tacker – Football, Basketball, Baseball, 1999: A multi-sport athlete who was drafted by the New York Yankees in 2000.
- Nathan Chandler – Football, 1999: A quarterback who led Carroll football to a semifinal appearance and helped Iowa achieve a No. 8 national ranking in college football.
- Brooke Upshaw (Bible) – Cross Country, 2006: Won the SEC cross-country title as a freshman at Arkansas in 2006 and was one of the greatest runners in Southlake Carroll history.
- Justin Padron – Football, 2007: A key member of three State Championship teams and the recipient of the Jack Pardee 5A Linebacker of the Year award.
- Robert Prigmore – Wrestling, 2008: an All-American and the first Dragon wrestler to be inducted into the Hall of Honor.
- Ross Stripling – Baseball, 2008: An MLB pitcher, All-Star, and World Series competitor primarily with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
- The 2011-2012 Boy’s Cross-Country Team: The first state championship team in Southlake Carroll history.
- The 2011-2012 Girl’s Swim & Dive Team: Perhaps the greatest of all teams at Southlake, ranked No. 1 nationally among both public and private schools.
- Robert Drake – Coach: A dedicated coach for over 30 years, currently serving as head of the track program and assistant football coach.
- Ronnie Binion - Fan/Supporter: The visionary behind the Southlake weight program, which he led from 1988 to 2000 on a volunteer basis.
