Southlake Carroll is coming off its biggest win of thebrseason and arguably one of the biggest wins in the Hal Wasson era.
The Dragons made a statement on Friday as they knocked off district rival Euless Trinity, 42-28. The victory has built up plenty ofbrmomentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

“It was a big victory,” Wasson said. “There is no doubt aboutbrthat. We had our best week of preparation. I think our players understand thebrintense mechanical and game speed preparation. Hopefully, this win willbrspringboard us towards more wins. We have to keep the momentum going.”
Too often, teams have letdown games after huge victories.brAnd Friday's road contest against Lewisville serves as somewhat of a trap game.
Despite losing 49 lettermen from a year ago, the Farmers are 3-2, have home field advantage and arebrcoming off an eye-opening 41-14 rout of Flower Mound Marcus — their firstbrwin over the Marauders in almost a decade.
Still, Wasson expects his team to be prepared and tobrcontinue to play its best football.
“It will only be a trap game if we're immature,” Wassonbrsaid. “From watching this team train, I believe this team is going to respond.brBut it's going to come down to leadership and preparation. I don't anticipate abrdrop off. “
Last week, Southlake Carroll loaded up the box andbremphasized stopping a run-heavy Euless Trinity team. This time around, thebrsecondary, and the Dragons' pass defense as a whole, will be tested.
Lewisville runs a spread attack and is averaging close to 30brpoints per game. The Farmers have one of the most dangerous weapons in thebrstate in Alabama wide receiver commit Tyrell Shavers, who stands at 6-foot-6brand runs a 4.38 forty (yard dash).
“Shavers represents a big challenge,” Wasson said. “But it'sbrnot just about him. Their offensive line has been playing well. They have anbroutstanding running back. As I told our players, it's the biggest game of thebryear because it's the next game.”
On the opposite side of the coin, Lewisville has been solidbron defense, surrendering just 22.6 points per game. The Farmers arebrparticularly strong up front and have a great playmaker on the back end inbrMatthew Kibbey.
“Their front seven has been very successful,” Wasson said.br“They have seen a lot of improvement. They are very talented and fast all over.brThey are just a very stingy defense.
“It's like I told our team, we're 2-0 in district, butbrthat's old news. The new news is we're playing Lewisville. The best news is webrcan still grow and get better.”
