A mini skirt filled with cookies, a dress covered in fast food wrappers and spoons and a handbag that shows off golden-brown fries have all been spotted at Food in Fashion, an annual event by the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association. This scrumptious fundraiser (which benefits local restaurant and hospitality career-development programs) begins with appetizers prepared by local student culinary teams, who are competing for the Culinary Cup trophy. Next, guests will be treated to a tasty fashion show, where each design ¾ often full of edible surprises ¾ incorporates at least 10 percent of its look from a sponsoring restaurant. Afterward, bid on treasures in the silent and live auctions, attend a VIP reception and more. When food and fashion come together, it’s a recipe for a good time.
