The first home game of the season is finally here. Come cheer on the Southlake Carroll Dragons as they take on Colleyville Heritage on Friday, September 7. Kickoff in Dragon Stadium will be at 7 p.m., but the pregame fun will start much earlier. Locals can come out and join in the tailgating before finding their seat before the first quarter starts. Operation Kindness's 25th Annual Dog Day Afternoon
Dog lovers unite! Operation Kindness, North Texas' original and largest no-kill animal shelter, and sponsor Pet Supplies Pet are hosting the 25th annual Dog Day Afternoon this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Locals can head over to the Operation Kindness Animal shelter in Carrollton for a free family festival to celebrate man's best friend. Stop by the Mutt Midway to check out the dozens of vendors and food trucks participating in the day of fun. This is one event you won't want to miss.
2018 Kiwanis Butterfly Festival in Southlake
Let your kids walk among hundreds of butterflies by heading out to the 2018 Kiwanis Butterfly Festival in Southlake's Rustin Pavilion. On Saturday and Sunday starting at 9 a.m., butterfly experts will be out to answer locals questions about these beautiful creatures. After learning more about their natural habitats, kids of all ages can feed the butterflies watermelon so they can closely interact with them. And at 5 p.m. on Sunday, the butterflies will be released making for a spectacular conclusion to the event. The festival will benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, Kiwanis Children's Charities and the Eliminate Project.
