"Texas Monthly" recently recognized 11 North Texas restaurants in its Top 50 Texas BBQ Joints list published on Monday, Oct. 18.
To compile the list, "Texas Monthly" sent 32 staffers and three freelancers to 411 barbecue joints over eight weeks, according to its website. This year's list is the sixth one it's published since 1997.
Besides the 11 North Texas restaurants featured on the list, another 11 restaurants were named honorable mentions. Those restaurants include 407 BBQ in Argyle, 225° BBQ in Arlington, Harris Bar-B-Que in Cedar Hill, Oak’d BBQ and Pecan Lodge in Dallas, Derek Allan’s Texas Barbecue and Heim Barbecue in Fort Worth, Meshack’s Bar-Be-Que in Garland, Ernie’s Pit Barbecue in Greenville, Lockhart Smokehouse in Plano and Smoke Sessions Barbecue in Royse City.
