‘New’ Bar In Town
Southlake’s Mi Cocina Completes Its Interior Renovation
One longtime Southlake Town Square restaurant has a new look. Home to the Southlake Style Readers’ Choice 2021 top cocktail (the Mambo Taxi), Mi Cocina, located at 1275 Main St., temporarily closed its doors in January to undergo a remodel of its dining room and bar. Now, the beloved restaurant is back and sleeker than ever.
The Southlake Mi Cocina has been open for more than 21 years. Mi Cocina’s parent company, M Crowd Restaurant Group, CEO and president Edgar Guevara says this location holds a special place for him, and he wanted to transform the location into something locals could enjoy for years to come.
“During the reimage, we took everything down to the studs and have created a more modern, yet familiar, space that we believe everyone will be very proud of,” Guevara says.
The redesign blends contemporary pieces with modern Mexican influences, giving off a sophisticated vibe. Updates include an expanded mezzanine dining space, a semi-secluded booth section, an interior balcony that overlooks the main dining room and a refreshed patio. But the crown jewel has to be the relocated and enhanced bar, which also offers more seating options for those interested in stopping by for a cocktail.
As patrons take in the bar’s details, they will notice chic additions incorporating various artisans, like the brass-topped cocktail tables from Sean Springer, bar display case by Adrian Orona and handcrafted tile made in Los Angeles.
Guevara says the investment is the company’s way of showing the Southlake community how grateful M Crowd Restaurant Group is for its patronage.
“It’s our way of saying thank you for allowing Mi Cocina to serve Southlake for the past two decades, and we look forward [to] creating family memories and traditions for many years to come,” Guevara says.
So next time you need a happy hour destination or family-friendly restaurant that will satisfy your whole group, look no further than Southlake Town Square.
