Dining On The Fairway
Persimmons Bar & Grill Adds A Delicious New Element To The Grapevine Golf Course.
With its location at the Grapevine Golf Course, a menu filled with elevated classics and its name harking back to golfing history — golf clubs used to be made from persimmon wood — Persimmons Bar & Grill will delight both golfers and non-golfers alike.
“It’s not just for golfers,” Samantha Shafto, the restaurant operations manager, says. “We’re a restaurant that happens to be built on a golf course.”
With its location, Persimmons Bar & Grill offers breathtaking views of the course wherever diners indulge in its offerings. The private dining room ensures guests can relax with friends or family while the bar lounge invites patrons to eat while watching the sport of their choice. And the patio dining space, which includes two fireplaces with four lounge chairs each, offers a cozy area where guests can wind down and enjoy the view.
“It’s like [we] have a small space but in the same sense, [we] have a lot of space,” Samantha says.
Whether you’re coming off a long day on the green or stopping by specifically for Persimmons, start with one of its signature cocktails. The Whiskey Berry Smash comes with Old Forester 100 proof, lemon, honey and blackberries, while the Cucumber Collins is a mixture of Stolichnaya cucumber vodka, dry Curacao, agave, lime, Fee Brothers celery and peach bitters.
Embodying its namesake, Persimmons also offers a couple of cocktails made with the same fruit. Start off with the Persimmons prosecco, made with Aviation American gin, amaretto, pineapple, persimmons simple and La Marca prosecco, or The Zaharias, Tito's mixed with elderflower, lime, persimmons simple and angostura bitters.
After a few cocktails, it’s time to indulge in some of Persimmons’ offerings. Its pork belly burnt ends, which feature 12-hour smoked pork belly tossed in barbecue sauce, is one of its most popular appetizers, as well as the Texas cheese fries and smoked queso.
Those looking for a lighter meal should order one of Persimmons’ salads, two of which feature the persimmons fruit. The burrata caprese salad is complete with burrata, heirloom tomatoes, basil, chopped candied walnuts, pomegranate seeds and balsamic persimmon dressing, while the goat cheese arugula salad also features the balsamic persimmon dressing, along with cherry tomatoes and candied nuts.
Diners who come to Persimmons hungry will no doubt leave satiated. The Smashburger, with American cheese, smash sauce, lettuce, tomato and a toasted potato bun, will satisfy any craving while the Airline Chicken comes with country potatoes and a family recipe in Tita’s cream sauce.
“We have sauces that are secret sauces, but come from our executive sous’ family. It’s his mom’s recipe,” Samantha says. “Every sauce we have, every dressing we have is made from scratch.”
For sauce aficionados, Persimmons delivers. The crispy chicken sandwich features a signature sauce along with hand-breaded chicken breast, lettuce, onions and tomatoes on a toasted potato bun. Meanwhile, the 10-ounce filet, served with cauliflower broccoli mash, features a peppercorn sauce, and the savory zucchini cakes come complete with a sweet and spicy sauce drizzled on top.
After eating your way through Persimmons’ savory menu, finish off the night with a delectable dessert. The Persimmons bread pudding features the fruit prominently along with a caramel cream sauce, while friends and family can share the Nutella s’mores. And Persimmons’ seasonal cheesecake is the perfect way to end a date night.
From golfers coming off the green to families looking for a night out, Persimmons Bar & Grill delivers luxury, elegance and coziness that will impress any patron.
