Prohibition Party Time
Step Into The 1920s At The Magnum Speakeasy.
If you want to escape to a place where the ambiance is exquisite and the drinks are flowing, step into the past at Hotel Vin’s Magnum Speakeasy. With a telephone booth entrance and vintage drinks and decor, the concept is reminiscent of the 1920s.
“Before transforming the space into an intimate speakeasy, Magnum was being used as a private meeting room,” says Nicole Haarklau, Hotel Vin’s director of food and beverage. “As a team, we brainstormed ways to better utilize the space and unanimously decided that the room would be a perfect fit for a Prohibition-style speakeasy.”
With just 18 seats, guests are highly recommended to reserve a spot ahead of time for a 90-minute seating. Once guests have checked in, they receive a secret code from the host at Bacchus Kitchen + Bar and are escorted into a telephone booth. After picking up the phone and listening to a message from Clint Eastwood, patrons can enter the code and walk through a secret door into the speakeasy.
“Magnum has continued to organically evolve into the place to go for date night, anniversaries and even a good nightcap,” Nicole says. “The concept has been well received, and hotel guests love the amenity of a speakeasy without having to venture off the property.”
After finding a seat, patrons can choose from a bevy of beverage options, with drinks exclusive to the speakeasy and on a seasonal rotation. Some of the most popular drinks include the Magnum Margarita, made with Cincoro Anejo Tequila, Grand Marnier Louis Alexander, lime juice and gold salt, and the Gold Fashioned, which features Maker’s Mark Cask Strength Bourbon, Liquor 43, angostura cocoa bitters and gold. For those looking for a fruitier drink, the Seltzer Of The Queen showcases Chopin Vodka, Frankly Pomegranate Vodka, Yellow Chartreuse and house-made orange-basil seltzer.
“We focused on using only premium spirits, house-made syrups, purees and large-format ice. The spirits selected fall into the craft spirits category, so you won’t find them on many back bars at your local watering hole,” Nicole says. “In addition, we curated a rotating list of rare and allocated spirits, primarily whiskey and bourbon.”
Whether you want to celebrate a special occasion or simply spend an evening in the 1920s, make a point to stop by Magnum Speakeasy.
