When the weather is frightful, nothing hits the spot like a warm, southern favorite dish. Whether your sweet spot is more in the savory realm and gravitate toward barbecue or gumbo or would rather indulge in a sweet like pecan pie or bread pudding, there’s a place in town just waiting to satisfy that craving.

If southern cooking translates to barbecue in your head, then there isn’t anything quite like Feedstore BBQ in the area. The longtime Southlake eatery offers favorites including sliced brisket sandwiches, meat plates, burgers and St. Louis style pork ribs. Be sure to leave room for its satisfying sides like potato salad, dirty rice and fried okra.

For made from scratch Louisiana, head over to The Hilton Southlake’s Copeland’s of New Orleans. Unique savory options include the crab stuffed beignets, served with a remoulade dressing, and shrimp etouffee. But the bakery also promises to provide southern goodness, including a bananas foster and homemade creole style cheesecake, which can be topped with caramel praline.

Old West Cafe
For an old-fashioned dinner serving good ol’ cooking, head over to Old West Café in Grapevine. With signature flapjack dishes, chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy and Mamaw’s Meatloaf, each bite provides that warmth you look for in southern cooking. The diner also provides Tex Mex favorites like tacos, migas and breakfast burritos.
