CSHS Principal Shawn Duhon (center) accepts Southlake's 3rd straight UIL Lone Star Cup during a ceremony before the football season opener at Dragon Stadium.
Introducing one of the leaders of Dragon Nation, Carroll Senior High School Principal Shawn Duhon. We spoke with Principal Duhon about some of his favorite Friday night traditions.
Dragon Pride: Thanks for speaking with us, Principal Duhon! Tell us, what is your favorite Dragon Football tradition?
Shawn Duhon: There obviously are several, but if I had to choose a favorite it would be the “clap out” and “clap in!” Dragon fans show their pride in clapping and cheering for our student-athletes as they leave the locker room and board the bus to the stadium. Then - win or lose - we are all back at the school after the game to clap them back home for representing our community in the great spirit of competition.
DP: How do you like to celebrate a victory?
SD: I just enjoy staying on the field after the game with all the players, belles, cheerleaders, coaches and family members as long as we can to absorb and take in all the fun, laughter, and celebrations. It is a real positive and joyful experience!
DP: How do you show Texas pride on game day?
SD: You will always find me in Dragon attire!
Along with Principal Duhon, you'll find Ozarka brand water at Dragon Stadium for each home game, supporting the Southlake Carroll Dragons and the traditions of Friday Night Lights.
