Dragon House opened on Southlake Boulevard in the spring and captivated its diners with their beautiful plates and rich flavors. Located in the old Steak 'n Shake location, Dragon House came onto the food scene with hopes of acting as a true representation of what Shanghai cuisine has to offer.
“We offer the most authentic Chinese food in the area,” owner William Lin says.
Because of their exclusive offerings – like handmade dim sum and hand-pulled noodles, Dragon House quickly became a foodie must-try. And its dishes don’t disappoint.
“We weren’t expecting all these customers all at once,” William says. “All of a sudden, we were packed.”

Their offerings include traditional favorites as well as chef specialties, but the star of the show has to be their dumplings. These delicate, flavorsome starters are created in their open kitchen, so guests can see their food formed before their very eyes. The noodles are also pulled in front of diners, a unique experience only available at a few restaurants in the Metroplex.
“We want people to enjoy seeing how the food is made,” William says. “Kids like it because they have never seen it before. It’s a fun experience for them.”
Each dumpling is filled with a hot broth that fills your mouth with flavor on the first bite. After you get a taste of the meat and the subtle seasonings, your table will be fighting over the last appetizer.
“When you bite into it, it’s just an explosion of taste,” William says. “The combination is just perfect.”
The Soybean Paste Noodle, served cold with minced pork and soybean paste, acts as a refreshing follow up to the dim sum. The main dishes like the Braised Meatballs with bok choy and Boiled Fish Fillet with pickled cabbage are more than enough to fill you up. If you have room for dessert, the Kung-fu Sesame Ball is a crowd pleaser. The hollow dish expands while it is cooking, which leaves a crispy, chewy dessert that the whole table will enjoy.
Dragon House is excited to join the Southlake community, which is why they chose their name. William wanted to embrace a cultural symbol while also connecting to those close to the Carroll ISD Dragons. This community favorite is sure to satisfy both those familiar with the cuisine and those open to trying new dishes. Thanks to their array of options, the whole family can find something to get excited about at Dragon House.
