The new elevated drive-thru design (Chick-Fil-A)
Chick-Fil-A is rolling out two new digital-focused restaurant designs aimed to maximize the customer’s to-go experience.
One of the concepts is an elevated drive-thru with four lanes located beneath the kitchen space for order and pick-up, while the other is a walk-up design for online order pick-up only. Both are expected to open in 2024, with the drive-thru opening in Atlanta while the walk-up will be in New York.
This project comes after heavy usage of fast pick-up lanes and increased orders through the Chick-Fil-A app across their 2,951 stores, including the Southlake location at 2301 E. Southlake Blvd.
“Digital orders make up more than half of total sales in some markets – and growing – so we know our customers have an appetite for convenience,” says Khalilah Cooper, executive director of restaurant design.
By testing these concepts in two major cities, Chick-Fil-A hopes to grow alongside a fast-paced, virtually-enhanced society.
“We want to leverage technology to elevate the human touch points in our restaurants,” says Cooper. “These new digital formats make the customer and team member experience more seamless, and therefore more memorable, and give back precious time to connect with each other.”
