For craft beers in a warm environment, head over to Roanoke's latest brew destination: The Brass Tap. The new restaurant prides itself on taking beers seriously, which they proved during their grand opening on Monday by popping some rare kegs.
Southlake resident and franchisee owner Ron Jankowski was drawn to the business because of its simple yet classic offerings.
“I liked that it was just a pub where you could get a good pint of beer,” Jankowski said. “We're a real craft beer bar.”
Jankowski's first location – near Fort Worth's Sundance Square – was housed in a historic building giving the bar a more authentic feel. And because of its success, the beer lover knew he wanted to expand.
Located right off Highway 114, Jankowski's second location in Roanoke is a bit more strategic.
This location lends to family-friendly casual dining with its close proximity to the local Cinemark while also catering to the service industry. The Brass Tap is the only spot that's open for late night in the area. They are open to 1 a.m. during the week and 2 a.m. on the weekend.
Thanks to his relationships with breweries, Jankowski is able to build out his beer list with exclusive options.
“It's afforded us the ability to bring in some rare, special beers,” Jankowski said.
Their grand-opening draft menu included the Founders KBS Stout, a bigger bourbon barrel-aged chocolate coffee stout with a 12.3% ABV, and the North Coast Barrel-Aged Old Rasputin, a special release stout aged in bourbon barrels with a 12% ABV.
Don't miss your chance to try out these kegs while they are still available. Or come in and try something new on their ever-changing menu.
“You come in and see the beers we have today,” Jankowski explained. “Next week, when you come in here, there will be new handles.”
On top of the 68 drafts, The Brass Tap has close to 140 options available in bottles or cans. These rotating options showcase some of the best local – whether it be DFW-based or Texas-based – beers available.
“Whether you are just starting out with craft beer or a seasoned connoisseur, there is something to try out,” Jankowski said.
Guests can be rewarded for trying these different options by joining the brew crew program. For $15, patrons can get a shirt and points for every unique beer they order.
If craft beer isn't your go-to drink, the cocktail list has something for everyone. From margaritas to Texas whiskeys to their mule-centric options, there are lots of options to choose from.
Be sure to check out their happy hour. Monday to Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., drafts, house wines, mules and appetizers are 20 percent off. And with live entertainment taking the stage on Friday and Saturday nights, guests will want to stick around to see some of these outstanding local acoustic acts.
