Want to help some local pets like Missy here? On April 5, Operation Kindness, North Texas' largest and oldest no-kill animal shelter, will host its third annual Day of Giving. Starting at midnight and running until 11:59 p.m., the organization will be taking donations through their website. And, thanks to a generous benefactor, all donations will be matched up to $10,000. So, your proceeds can really help them go the extra mile.
With more than 47 municipal partners, Operation Kindness has taken in more than 100,000 homeless pets since its first day. That adds up to more than 5,000 dogs and cats annually. In 2017 alone, Operation Kindness' medical staff performed 23,656 medical exams, 3,140 spay and neutering surgeries, 363 internal surgeries and administered $200,00 worth of medicine to animals in need. And it's all possible thanks to events like this one.
Pups like Missy are thankful for every penny. After Operation Kindness got the call about a local dog spending more time hanging around a tree, their team investigated to discover Missy had given birth to seven puppies and placed them in a tree stump to keep them safe. The loyal mom and her puppies were brought in, received vaccinations, heartworm preventative medicine, food and a lot of love. Both Missy and her puppies will be available after they have received all their vaccinations.
“We've been taking in many more animals with injuries and illnesses which means our medical expenses are increasing.,” Chief Executive Officer, Jim Hanophy said via press release. “This Day of Giving and the generous match are vital to our ability to continue to save homeless animals, treat their needs and find them new loving homes.”
So, on April 5, help local pets in need by participating in this great event. You can visit their website to learn more information.
