With a knack for welding and a love of outdoor grilling George Stephen, a welder of Coast Guard buoys for the Chicago area Weber Brothers Metal Works, had become dissatisfied with the grills on the market at the time. One day in 1952, like every other day, George was about to weld two buoy halves together, but this time a spark of inspiration hit him. He realized if he welded the bottom half as the bowl and the top half as a lid, and then added on some legs and a handle- he had the crude beginnings of his very own grill.
Sixty years of grilling perfection later the fires still burn for Weber and their full line of gas and charcoal grills and accessories. The most impressive offering to date is the Weber® Summit® Grill Center with Social Area. Built upon the company’s top-of-the-line, luxury Summit® 670™ grill platform—with the addition of matching, enclosed left and right cabinetry plus a (right or left-)return Social Area. Measuring a total of 57.1”H x 112.375”W x 75.5”D with the lid open, this grill provides over 760 square inches of diverse cooking area thanks to its included rotisserie and a dual-ring side burner that allows for a wide variety of cooking methods.
The Weber Grill Center keeps the party going outside and minimizes trips indoors thanks to a generous amount of internal storage. The cabinets enclose trash bins, ice bins, paper towel holders, and have adjustable shelving for all of your outdoor entertaining needs. The Weber Summit Grill with Social Area is available at specialty retailers and comes in either Stainless Steel or Black, liquid propane (LP) or natural gas.
