While Toys ‘R' US has been closing down stores across the country for the past couple months, the wave has finally moved its way to Southlake.
The Toys ‘R' Us and Baby ‘R' Us superstore on N. Kimball Avenue now has store closing flags around the parking lot. This makes it just one of the many company stores that will now be hosting closing sales for their customers before they shut their doors.
In their March 15 press release, the business announced in the process of their ongoing bankruptcy case, the business would make moves to “wind-down” its U.S. business and will liquidate the inventory of all 735 company stores, including those in Puerto Rico. The company has announced they will focus on reorganizing their Asian, Central European and Canadian operations.
The Southlake location continued to operate after the first widespread closing of 182 stores, which made it one of three Tarrant County locations. This original plan to hone in their storefronts proved not to be enough to sustain the business. It's safe to assume that other big-box retailers like Target and Walmart and online vendors like Amazon will continue to draw in shoppers with their affordable prices and convenient digital presence. And now more than ever it's important to shop local at Southlake storefronts like Toy Maven, Little Orange Fish and The Gift Store.
