Prost to pretzels and polka dancing — Southlake locals will find lots of these and more at Oktoberfest 2024 this weekend. From Oct. 11-13, Town Square will transform into a larger-than-life spectacle that the city has put on for 23 years now. Whether you come for the food or the festivities, here are five things to look forward to this weekend at Southlake Oktoberfest.
1. Eat Up
Known for its distinct Bavarian flair, Oktoberfest emphasizes the hearty, robust flavors you’d typically find in German cuisine. From sauerkraut and sausages to schnitzel and potato pancakes, the options are endless when it comes to the many flavors of Oktoberfest.
2. Raise A Glass
In addition to the many foods you can indulge in at Oktoberfest, the bier tent never fails to pour tall pints of your favorite beverages. Whether you sip on fresh German brews or some fine wine, the fun times never stop at Oktoberfest — especially at the annual stein hoisting competition.
3. Play It Again
Aside from delicious food and drinks, Oktoberfest will also boast a whole selection of performances on both its main stage and German stage. With dance routines from the Dragon Youth Dazzlers and music by the Carroll Senior High School jazz combo, the whole weekend will feature all sorts of live entertainment you won’t want to miss.
4. The Ultimate Smash
Along with a wide array of entertainment options, Oktoberfest will also have not one, but two rounds of its signature “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” tournament. With just a $35 entry fee, participants can see how their fighting skills stack up against their peers at both 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., with first and second-place finalists winning a special prize.
5. Off To The Races
Of course, no Oktoberfest in Southlake is complete without its iconic Weiner dog race, and the contestants are lined up ready to hit the track running! After the Weiner dog costume contest wraps up at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, stick around for the races from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to see who is the fastest dog in Oktoberfest.
