School’s out, summertime is here and parents are looking for ways to have fun with their families this season. But if you’re staying local, you’re in luck, because Southlake has plenty of summer camps for your child to have their own fun at — all while learning something worthwhile. Here are seven summer camps you should check out this month.
If you want to learn more about the wonders of nature, then Laura Cashon and Melissa Bailey have got you covered. Their animal science summer camp runs all month long, and they’ll be introducing kids to all of the varieties of animals out there and the traits that make them special. Families can register online or email D209Science@Gmail.com.
If you’re looking to improve your technical prowess, iCode Southlake has a variety of summer camps lined up between June 6-10 and June 13-17. You can learn cybersecurity and how to protect your digital community through Cyber Agent, create your own game through Game Builder and code and design your own website through Web Developer. You can register for their camps by emailing Southlake108@iCodeSchool.com.
Tap into your scientific side with the Summer STEM camp at Carroll Middle School this summer. From June 20-23, second-grade teachers Julie Gollihar and Rachel Hinzman will lead classes introducing children to the wonders of science, engineering and technology. Give your child the gift of science this month and register them for the camp at Julie.Gollihar@Gmail.com.
Led by Chad McCoy, Creative Kids is a week-long program where students first through fifth grade can come and sing, dance, perform and have fun expressing themselves in every way imaginable. Then at the end of the camp, kids will have the chance to show the performance they put together in front of a whole audience! The camp runs July 5-8 and participants can register by emailing Chad.McCoy9173@Gmail.com.
Running from July 11 to 15, the city of Southlake’s Camp Mania features a whole week of fun activities. On Monday, they’ll be having a movie day featuring Disney’s “Encanto,” while Tuesday will have a social day with Southlake DPS. Wednesday will feature a field trip to Hawaiian Falls while Thursday will have a live hula performance. Then get ready to dive into a pool day at Champions Club on Friday. Sign up now at ExperienceSouthlakeTexas.com.
Champions Club isn't the only Southlake facility that is hosting summer camps. The Southlake Tennis Center will be busy all summer long with its exclusive tennis training sessions, which are available through August. All ages 7-15 are welcome and can sign up on five different difficulty levels. You can learn more and register online at SouthlakeTennis.com.
Running July 11-13, Rachel Mahlow’s rocket camp will teach fifth- to eighth-graders how to blast off with their own rockets. Come out to Meadowmere Park in Grapevine, build your own rocket from scratch and watch as all of your hard effort launches and takes off to the sky. Register for the camp online or email RachelMahlow@Outlook.com.
If you’re looking to prepare your child for fall sports, then Carroll ISD’s summer camps are ready and waiting for you. Riley Dodge’s football camp runs from June 6-8, then on June 27-29 his passing academy will sharpen your throwing skills. David Markley and Robyn McCourt will head up their own basketball camps, and Kathryn Dobrow will lead her own Belle and high kick clinic at Dawson Middle School.
