Since its opening in February, Southlake's state-of-the-art Pickleball Complex has quickly become the spot du jour for local pickleball enthusiasts of all skill levels. Now, it's not just Southlake residents who have noticed, with facility recently winning the prestigious TRAPS North Recreation Facility Design Excellence Award.
Presented by the Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS) North Region, this accolade recognizes facilities with outstanding professional design and high recreational use, as well as collaboration between designers and parks professionals. The city will officially accept the award on Nov. 4 at the TRAPS North Region Conference in Denton.
The $4.5-million pickleball complex features eight pickleball courts and one championship court, as well as ample seating and a pro shop. Besides just open play, the complex has a wide range of opportunities for community members to engage, with classes including Intro to Pickleball, custom drills and pickleball leagues.
