There’s a “grape” time ahead of families this weekend in Southlake and Grapevine. From the last fireworks paddle tour to the 33rd annual Grapefest, there’s plenty to do around the area that will put a smile on both kids' and adults' faces.
Take your child to a land of wonder and imagination during CreationLand at 10 a.m. this Friday at 121 Community Church. This monthly play date will have snacks for the kids, coffee for the adults and an abundance of fun times for anyone in attendance! From toys to bounce houses, there’s nothing here that won’t entertain your child for hours on end. Bring a small pack of diapers to donate to this month’s outreach, the Cura Women’s Care Clinic.
Friday Night Fireworks Paddle Tour
If you’ve missed all the Friday Night Fireworks Paddle Tours this summer, not to worry: you have one weekend left before DFW Surf puts away the paddles for the season. For $45, you’ll get to join several other passionate paddlers at 9 p.m. on Friday at Grapevine Lake and experience the full moonlit adventures the lakeside has to offer. Stick around long enough and you’ll see a beautiful set of fireworks light up the night sky. Don’t miss it, it’s sure to kick your weekend off with a bang.
Teach a man to fish, and you’ve fed him for a lifetime. Teach a kid to fish, and you’ll have a fun afternoon with rods, bait and tackle flopping around all over the place. Come to the Bass Pro Shops in Grapevine from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at 2501 Bass Pro Dr. and teach your kid how to catch and release his own fish in the pond. It may not be comparable to the 20-pound trout you caught that one summer, but it’s still no less satisfying.
"Angry Birds Movie 2 VR: Under Pressure"
The birds are still angry, though this time it’s not because of the green pigs. This time it’s because of the eagles that are taunting them both, and you’ll get to help fight against these eagle-eyed fiends. Come to the Sea Life Aquarium at 10 a.m. all weekend long and you’ll get the chance to help the Angry Birds take back their island in the fun interactive virtual reality game “Under Pressure.” Don’t forget to check out the birds’ newest movie "The Angry Birds Movie 2," in theaters now!
The 33rd annual Grapefest may be meant for the passionate wine aficionados, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t an assortment of family fun waiting for you. Come to the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau and experience the family fun they have to offer, including their carnival and midway games and rides, their interactive events at KidsWorld or the ironworks you can create yourself at Millican's Blacksmith Shop. The best part? Tickets are free for children five and under!
