While this holiday season may look a little different, one thing will remain the same: Christmas lights. There are so many different light displays, Christmas events and holiday happenings around the Metroplex to spread seasonal cheer during the pandemic. Whether you choose a drive-thru lights event or head over to the Dallas Zoo, here’s where you can see some of the best Christmas lights this season.
Through December 31, you can enjoy the sights of their Christmas Village and their 12 Days of Christmas exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum. The 12 Days of Christmas exhibit features 25-foot tall Victorian-style gazebos and at night the garden shines bright with over a million lights. The Arboretum also has options for shopping, concessions and you might just see Santa Claus.
If you miss seeing lights during December, the Dallas Zoo has you covered. Their light display runs through January 3, ensuring everyone has time to gaze at their Christmas lights. A drive-thru experience, the Dallas Zoo has over a million lights set up to celebrate the season with lanterns depicting zoo animals. Just don’t forget to tune your radio to 1670 AM to hear holiday music while driving through the lights display.
Another drive-thru experience, the Gift of Lights at Texas Motor Speedway has millions of lights you can see from the comfort of your car through January 3. A 2-mile long light experience, a purchased ticket is good for any night. So there’s no more stressing about missing the lights. The Gift of Lights also has Food Truck Fridays so you can indulge in some delicious food while driving through the lights.
A new holiday lights experience, Luminova Holidays is open at Globe Life Field in Arlington through January 3. The light experience includes both outdoor and indoor festivities, with an outdoor ice skating rink and over three million lights inside. Luminova Holidays caps attendance each night to ensure social distancing so make sure to get a ticket before it’s too late.
If you head to Six Flags Over Texas between now and January 4, you’ll be able to enjoy Holiday in the Park. Holiday in the Park is the ultimate Christmas experience, with holiday shows, festive shopping opportunities, socially distanced visits with Santa and much more. And every night, Santa helps the park light the Tree of Trees before the Tree of Trees light spectacular.
In Grapevine, the Christmas Capital of Texas, a visit to the Gaylord Texan is a must. This year’s holiday event, dubbed “I Love Christmas Movies,” runs through January 3 and features pop-up scenes from some of the season’s most iconic movies. You can also indulge in snow tubing, ice skating and seeing acres of festive lights.
