It’s a new year for Southlake, and with it comes new changes, openings and expectations for 2022. While December is now in the rearview mirror, it’s still at the forefront of many of our readers’ minds — especially the following stories.
1. Five Of The Saddest Closures Of 2021
Southlake saw many restaurants close their doors last year. Whether it was the sweet exotic flavors of Herencia, the savory delights of Howard Wang’s, the sizzling beef patties of Johnny B’s or even the melt-in-your-mouth gooey butter cookies of Whimsy Cookie Co., there were many restaurants locals didn’t want to say goodbye to. That even included Panera Bread, which shut its doors at the tail end of November.
2. Five Exciting Restaurant Openings Of 2021
But while Southlake saw many unfortunate closures in 2021, it also welcomed many new exciting restaurants coming to the area as well. That includes Guy Fieri’s Flavortown, which opened two ghost kitchens inside Brio Italian Grille and Buca Di Beppo, Jane in Park Village, Black Rock Coffee Bar on Southlake Boulevard and Whistle Britches on Main Street. And of course, we can’t forget Jellico’s, which opened inside the Westin Dallas Southlake last fall.
3. Christmas Light Shows For The Season
Southlake sure loves its Christmas lights, and there’s no better example of that than our article spotlighting some of the hottest Christmas light shows last month. Whether it was the Galleria Dallas, the Dallas Zoo Lights, the Gift of Lights in Fort Worth, Vitruvian Lights in Addison, Radiance! In Frisco or Holiday in the Park at Six Flags, there was no shortage of colorful shows locals got to experience during the holidays.
4. Don’t Miss 2655 Johnson Road
An Engel & Völkers property, our readers loved learning about this wonderful tree-lined, 2.9-acre lot located at 2655 Johnson Road. While this $1.5 million property does have a sturdy home already on-site, the large acreage allows for free space to build the home of your dreams right on the edge of Southlake and Keller. This listing hasn’t sold yet, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to build the home you’ve always wanted.
5. Dragons Finish Season With 14-1 Record
While the Dragons didn’t get to go to state like they wanted to, Southlake Carroll still had an outstanding football season for 2021. The Dragons won 14 out of 15 games during the regular season and playoffs, with their season coming to an end against the Duncanville Panthers on Dec. 11. But the Dragons have a lot to look forward to, with 21 Dragons being named to the 4-6A First Team All-District last month. Here’s to looking ahead toward the 2022 season.
