Many high school seniors are busy putting the final touches on their college applications with early decision deadlines around the corner. Now, WalletHub is helping students determine the best academic institutions in their state. On October 19, the personal finance website released its 2021 Best Colleges and Universities list, as well as individual rankings per state.
Rice University landed the No.1 spot for Texas — as well as No. 7 nationally. University of Texas at Austin followed the private university in Houston and came in at No. 2 in Texas and No. 48 nationally. Trinity University came in at No. 3 in Texas and No. 61 nationally, while Texas A&M University came in at No. 4 in Texas and No. 118 nationally. University of Dallas rounded out Texas’ top five and earned the No. 136 spot nationally.
The rest of Texas’ top schools include Southwestern University at No. 6, Southern Methodist University at No. 7, Baylor University at No. 8, LeTourneau University at No. 9 and Texas Christian University at No. 10.
This ranking, which included more than 1,000 American higher-education institutions, was based on 30 key measures grouped into different categories, like student selectivity, cost and career outcomes. To view the full report, visit WalletHub’s website.
