Invest In Yourself This Year!

Why 2023 Is The Year You Should Finally Invest In Yourself!
The start of a new year is always filled with so much hope and expectation. Many people have created vision boards, made resolutions and chosen words to guide their year. One thing we've noticed as licensed counselors is how often self-improvement can often take a backseat to our goals, dreams and those we love. Some may feel guilty, knowing the time spent on a walk could be spent with a spouse or loved one. Some hesitate to pay for therapy because they may feel the money could be spent elsewhere. As the new year begins, let's discuss a few reasons why you should invest in yourself this year.
Investing In Yourself Prevents Burnout.
Burnout is often evidence of a lack of boundaries. Whether through overcommitting to others or simply not valuing ourselves enough, we tend to only invest in ourselves when there’s a medical or personal emergency that requires it. When we make the commitment to invest in ourselves consistently, we make space to recharge, reset and avoid burnout in the spaces that need us the most. What if we considered starting the year off with the same care we would give ourselves if we were sick or hurt? What if we got 8-10 hours of sleep every night, invested in therapy, committed to the community and built a life around the things that we loved? Making space for ourselves allows us to show up in the other areas of our lives at our best.
You Are Only As Good For Others As You Are Good To Yourself.
Who depends on you? Who in your life needs you to be at your best? Whether it’s an ailing parent, a few children, or your friends, investing in yourself allows you to show up for those people in your life with energy and patience. We can only sustainably give what we consistently receive. If you want to create a real impact in the lives of those that you love, developing a consistent habit of caring for yourself and investing in your well-being can be the game-changer your closer relationships need. Why not give your loved ones the gift of you at your best?
