Treatment for Dropping Eyelids
A drooping eyelid (ptosis) can cause discomfort, impaired vision and a loss of confidence in one’s appearance. Though you get plenty of sleep, you appear to be tired, weary and much older than you actually are.
If you are suffering from droopy eyelids, you may be glad to know that Southlake Plastic Surgery offers a ptosis treatment near you in Southlake!
Ptosis is characterized by an upper eyelid that droops over the eye. Ptosis can range in severity from slight drooping to limiting or blocking normal vision. It can affect both eyes or in some instances, just one.
The condition can cause a person to look much older or more exhausted than they are and can have significant effects on one’s self esteem. Luckily, there is a ptosis treatment (more on this below) that can last 10 to 15 years which improves appearance as well as vision.
What causes ptosis?
The facial muscle that allows the eyelids to function is called a levator muscle. With age or eye trauma, this muscle stretches or may even separate from the eyelid, causing a bothersome droop or sag.
The condition can occur in anyone at any age. It can also cause extremely dry or watery eyes and some patients may experience aching around their eyes.
Our longest lasting and most effective ptosis treatment in Southlake is blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery. This procedure is extremely safe and quick, taking about 40 minutes under local anesthesia at our private, on-site surgical facility.
Recovery from the surgery takes about seven to ten days and final results are seen within six months post-procedure.
Our resident plastic surgeon, Dr. Mark Mason, is Board-Certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and performs countless eyelid surgeries each year for men and women in the greater Dallas area.
Once you have confirmed with your doctor that there are no underlying nerve or muscle conditions causing your ptosis, schedule a consultation with the experts at Southlake Plastic Surgery for our ptosis treatment in Southlake!
